The success of the MRI Inside campaign is huge given that this campaign was the second largest in HCM history, second only to the building of the initial hospital in 1971. A lead gift from Bruce and Cindy Busby of Fredericksburg helped launch the campaign in late 2014. In addition to the Busby’s generous gift, HCM’s 2014 and 2015 end-of-year appeals contributed over $261,000 from members of our community. Additionally, net proceeds from the 2015 Hospital Gala XVI exceeded $720,000. HCM received grants totaling $1.53 million from the Don L. and Julie Holden Foundation, Inc., Dian Graves Owen Foundation, Hal & Charlie Peterson Foundation, The Cailloux Foundation, along with a major gift from James Avery Jewelry. Grants from J.E and L.E. Mabee Foundation, Inc. and the Moody Foundation, along with a bequest from the Lucille Rochs estate completed the project.
MRI Inside consists of the purchase of a state-of-the-art MRI unit to be installed inside of the hospital. Creating an MRI Suite inside the hospital requires substantial renovation, aligning with the Hospital’s overall goals to upgrade the facility while maintaining cost efficiencies. HCM’s objective is to improve patient satisfaction and experience with MRI services and to expand the hours of coverage. The total cost of the project was $4.69 million, which included construction, renovation, and equipment.
